Camera Person

Family Media is a Christian media organisation creating content for a Christian audience. We are looking for a skilled, creative and dependable Camera Person to join our TV team and help us bring our live broadcasts and TV shows to life with excellent picture and sound.

About the role

As our Camera Person, you will film and record our live broadcasts and TV productions, making sure every shot looks and sounds its best. You will work closely with producers, presenters and editors, in the studio and on location, to tell stories that inspire and inform our audience.

Reports to: Head of TV
Works with: Presenters, producers, video editors, Play-Out Technicians and Broadcast Assistants

Key responsibilities

  1. Set up, adjust, operate and pack away cameras for studio shows, live broadcasts and on-location events
  2. Adjust lighting and sound to achieve high-quality pictures and audio
  3. Set up, troubleshoot and care for camera equipment, lenses and rigs, and report any damage
  4. Work with producers and video editors to plan assignments and recording sequences
  5. Direct studio and on-location productions when required
  6. Suggest creative shots and angles that strengthen the storytelling
  7. Obtain the necessary permissions for filming and comply with legal standards
  8. Keep the studios and prop room clean and well organised
  9. Assist with footage review and give input during editing when needed
  10. Submit daily work and equipment reports
  11. Take on other duties within your capability as assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • Diploma in Journalism, Media or a related field
  • Previous experience as a camera operator in a media production environment
  • Strong audio-visual storytelling skills, with a good eye for detail, composition and framing
  • Solid understanding of camera operation, exposure, focus and framing
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to think quickly and solve problems during live broadcasts and shoots
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • A genuine passion for the Christian faith and values aligned with Family Media

Play-Out Technician

Help ensure the smooth, uninterrupted delivery of Family Media broadcast content across our platforms.

Nairobi, KenyaDeadline: 2nd September 2026

Key responsibilities

  1. Monitor the broadcast signal to ensure we remain on air.
  2. Assist in creating playlists and packaging shows on time.
  3. Manage and verify content before broadcast to ensure it is broadcast-ready.
  4. Upload and catalogue in-house aired TV shows on YouTube and Vimeo, and confirm content is correctly backed up on the server.
  5. Ensure adequate power and fuel are available for generators.
  6. Maintain broadcast equipment and troubleshoot technical issues, including during live broadcasts.
  7. Schedule advertisements, logs and mentions accurately as shared by the promotions team.
  8. Submit daily reports on completed tasks and equipment status to the General Manager.
  9. Report work-related or technical issues promptly to the General Manager.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering.
  • Previous experience with playout automation systems and broadcasting technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve technical issues under pressure and during live broadcasts.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle live broadcast challenges.
